From The Editor
Greetings all. Some of you know me from Subprimal Poetry Art, a project I founded ten years ago that published (as the name suggests) both poetry and art work. As that project evolved, it included more of what we generally call prose poetry, which leads to fiction, which leads to discovery, which eventually leads to the which which has no which, if I may be allowed to paraphrase Alan Watts.
With Dog Throat Journal, my intention is to publish and help promote somewhat odd, unconventional, and beautiful voices on a website with a simple and clean design. As this is the first issue, expect things to grow and change. Like life itself, this project is a work in progress.
I’m pleased to say that we’ve got on these pages some names familiar to me as well as some that I’m happy to have newly encountered as we’ve launched this project.
So to keep this brief, allow me to say many thanks to everyone who helped get the word out, to those who responded, and to those whose work appears here. Obviously, I can’t do this without you, and I appreciate your support very much.
By the way, you’ll notice that I’ve included in this first issue the seminal essay Theory and Play Of The Duende by Federico García Lorca. Although it’s not exactly part of the mission, I feel that it’s a very valuable and important piece for all who want to go deeper and more poetically into their work. I hope you'll check it out.
Thanks again and enjoy!
